[Lake Elsinore Image]

The Lake Elsinore (Skylark) Gliderport is just south of Lake Elsinore about 11 nautical miles nouthwest of Temecula. Lake Elsinore was the home base of AGCSC in the 1960's and early 1970's up until the lake flooded and prompted a relocation of the club to Jacumba. The site is known for a phenomenon known as the "Elsinore Convergence" which enhances otherwise mediocre soaring conditions. Since several pilots prefer the easy access of Lake Elsinore from I-15, we typically keep our 1-34 here most of the year. Launching is accomplished mostly by aero tows purchased from our friends at the Lake Elsinore Soaring Club. All glider operations are managed by:

How to Get There

To get to Lake Elsinore from San Diego by car, get on North Interstate 15. About 10 miles north of Temecula, take the Bundy Canyon Road exit. Turn left at the end of the off ramp and proceed to the second stop light at the T intersection with Mission Trail Road. Turn right and proceed to the next stop light at Corydon Road. Turn left and proceed past the Skydive Elsinore sign, and then make the next right turn at the dirt entrance road to the gliderport. The LESC parking area will be to your left.

If you want to fly into the Lake Elsinore Gliderport, you will need to exercise extreme caution for parachute jumping activity conducted by Sky Dive Elsinore. The landing zone for the jumpers is directly adjacent to the northeast end of runway 11L / 29R.
