The Warner Springs Gliderport is located in north eastern San Diego County, about 10 nautical miles south east of The Palomar Mountain Observatory. It is the hub of soaring activity in San Diego County. In addition to having an active sightseeing ride business and flight training school, the airport is home to numerous state-of-the-art high performance sailplanes, and is a leading departure point for cross country flights out of Southern California. Strong thermals, ridge lift, shear lines and mountain wave are all encountered in the area. Launching is accomplished mostly by aero tow. The Warner Springs Gliderport is managed by:

To get to Warner Springs from San Diego by car, get on North Interstate 15. Take the Poway Road exit east through the City of Poway to Highway 67. Turn left and continue north through the City of Ramona, where Highway 67 turns into Highway 78. Continue to Santa Ysabel, where you will need to turn left onto Highway 79, (about a block past Dudley's Bakery). Continue north straight to the Gliderport, which is located about 2 miles beyond the Warner Springs Ranch.
Another route, slightly longer but perhaps faster, (there aren't as many winding turns), is the following. From Interstate 15, take the Valley Parkway exit east through the City of Escondido. Once through Escondido, Valley Parkway turns into County Road S6. Continue through Valley Center to Rincon where you will reach the T intersection with Highway 76. Turn right and continue east following the signs for Lake Henshaw until you reach the T intersection with Highway 79. Turn left and continue north on Highway 79 straight to the Gliderport, which is located about 2 miles beyond the Warner Springs Ranch.
